Impression
Traditionally a TV advertising expression used to describe the number of times a person has the opportunity to see an ad; slang term is "eyeballs." Ads are often sold on a cost per 1,000 impressions, (abbreviated CPM). Podcast producers estimate audience size based on subscribers, erroneously equating subscriptions with impressions.
